Hi, are there any tips for irish family history in particular, i have a JOHN ROWLEY, born 1810, he married CATHERINE FRENEY born 1822 in County Mayo, Ireland. They had 3 sons in Mayo, Patrick, Thomas, and Owen, in the early 1840s, then because of the potato famine they came over to England, the family were found in the Scarborough workhouse in the 1851 census, they had had a fourth son called John by this time born in Grindale (near Bridlington). Although John the father had died in the Scarborough workhouse in 1850, so he isnt present. Catherine, (the wife) went on to re-marry in 1857 a man called Francis Mcguire,...........does anybody have anymore leads on Catherine and Francis? they then dissappear from the census......or maybe info on Owen or John the sons? (i do have decendants for Patrick and Thomas)........or maybe if the father John had any brothers and sisters? ..............most of the decendants went on to become fishermen/fish hawkers in Scarborough, it is thought that Francis Mcguire who was in the fishing game himself, taught the sons and it carried on after generation. Any info at all would be much appreciated. Thank you, regards Mark Rowley

If you put 'ireland' or 'irish' in the thread search you will get info and links to tracing irish rellies. If they are in England where have you looked for info? Glen

Hi, i have basically built this info up over time, from a relative, through census', a bit from ancestory.co.uk, and other sites. Im aware of the irish fire in Dublin in 1922, and how it destroyed most of the records, so it wont be easy!
