Pieces without a sub-series parent T 164/187/1 Stevens, H C: gratuity and small lump-sum award in settlement of claim for injury compensation just been browsing on Nationalarchives my Uncle by this name and initials got killed in 1939 in Hong Kong seems coincidental that this is on the site for that year is it possible my grandparents were awarded a small sum |

sorry I had to go somewhere no he wasnt married , it just seems strange that name is on there its the only one for the right year |

Just a couple of small points. His death would , of course, have to be after the the declaration of war in September for it to be a war death, and I'm not aware on any British forces in involved in fighting in that part of the world until much later. Perhaps he was killed in training etc? Denis. |

thanks for your reply he was killed on the 4th september 1939 while driving a truck which overturned , I have copies of the letters from his Commanding Officer ,and the War office that were sent to his parents, saying how liked he was. |
