I've found the name of my ancestor but how do I know which person he married? I have a choice of two names and I haven't got a clue which one to choose. Help please? Thanks, Gail |

Have you found him on the census following his marriage- and if so can you match up the wife´s name? |

Elaine, He is on the 1901 census aged 13. I did a name search on BMD and found his marriage in 1908. |

Do you know of any children who were born to them after 1912 - if you do you can find their birth registration on the complete images on Ancestry - and this will give the mother´s maiden name. |

As this is your ancestor then you are presumably descended from one of his children. If he/she was born pre 1911 when the mother's maiden name began to be put on the index you will need to buy the birth certificate to find the mother's name. |

Thank you for the information. I'll try Ancestry as you suggest Elaine. |
