Hi everyone, I have George Shed br abt 1840 @ Greenhithe Kent, married Elize Barnard, br abt 1855, in Stratford Essex, marriage 1876 in West Ham, and on the 1881 census, they lived at 26 Lucas Rd West Ham. 1st child Mary Ann Elizabeth Shed, ( my gran bless her} was born 1877. 2nd child Emily Shed was born 1881, died June 1882. 3rd child William T shed born dec 1884, died sept 1886. All at West Ham. There may well be other children that I have not found yet!!!. Then in the 1891 census, they have all disappeared, I did finally locate Mary Ann in a Industrial School for girls, in Poole Dorset, Question, have mother and father died as well?, were there other children that I have not found?, the fact that Mary Ann was in a Industrial school, does this mean that something had happened to her parents.?, or was that the norm in those days, for a girl here age?. Can someone please give me a hands here, to sort this lot out?. Ben.

Kids went to Industrial schools for a variety of reasons, at risk of a criminal life or family in dire poverty - it was training for a better future. I take it your gran married before the 1901?

Thanks everyone, Heather, Mary married Frederick William Overall March 1900, they had 3 children, and then Frederick died from a drowning in the Old Bedford river at Mepal Cambs, I still have to look for possibly more children in the 1800s, interesting aboput the mispelling of Shed/Shell, must look into that further. Excuse my delay in answering, got called away for the evening meal, I live in Au.
