Hi, can anyone with access to the London 1841 CD please lookup No.5 Hartshorn Court please. Im hoping to find a Dalton family there. (Have no birth dates etc so cant search ancestry) but have details from other sources suggesting a William Dalton lived there in 1832. Thanking anyone who may be able to help. Suzanne |

Mission impossible !!! London is not an option on Ancestry for 1841 census - only Middlesex or Surrey etc. Where exactly is Hartshorn Court? Maureen |

If it's the Hartshorn Court in the Parish of St Giles, Cripplegate, then the only Dalton family I can find in that parish is this one, but they are at Ebenezer Place: 1841 Eliza Dalton abt 1808 Middlesex, England St Giles without Cripplegate Middlesex Eliza Dalton abt 1830 Middlesex, England St Giles without Cripplegate Middlesex Michael Dalton abt 1806 Middlesex, England St Giles without Cripplegate Middlesex Maybe you could confirm the parish name for your Hartshorn Court? I think there's another one a Aldgate (and probably others, too), but I couldn't see any Daltons in that area! Merry |

Hi Maureen and Merry, thank you so much for looking. Sorry I didnt get back to you earlier. Im not sure where this Hartshorn Court is in London, I checked the A-Z of modern day and its obviously an old street. the only mention of it I coud find from googling was this: Hartshorn Court, St Mary, HOLBORN I think it is probably the one you found Merry in Cripplegate so if there isnt a Dalton family there then I must assume they have moved. I think the name may have been mistranscribed anyhow a Ive checked all the William Daltons on ancestry and none fit the bill. I got the name and occupation from the old bailey court proceedings. William Dalton - occupation Watch finisher. My William Dalton was a watch finisher/maker but born c1785/90 and this William has been described as a boy in 1832 so not even sure if this is one and the same but as I cant find my William thought it may be worth a shot! Once again thanks for your help. Suzanne X |
