Hi, there is a William Tandler aged 3 on 1901 with a mother Ellen. It says married, but no husband at home. Image actually looks like Sandles. |

Hi Janet, thought you might find this interesting it is a marriage for a Thomas Sandles Dec 1896 in Barnet, greater london hertfordshire it is Vol 3a Page 388, the possibel brides are Emma Louisa Eaton or Ellen Maylett. Sound as if this could be Williams Fathers marriage! |

have tried searching 1901 census putting birth info for 1897/1898 and have tried using wild cards - no Sandle families in the area? |

Don´t suppose you have his birth certificate with names of parents ?? Cannot see anything on census even using wildcards. |

Have you tried using wildcards, or reducing the amount of defined info you put in for the search? Or simply trying for mistranscriptions? It might be worth using ''sand*' for the surname, for instance, because that will pick up ''sandies''. ''san*'' would pick up ''sanches'' as well. Christine |

I am looking for more information I have a William Herbert Sandles born Sept Quarter of 1897 and registered in Barnet Hertfordshire. I cannot find any Sandles on the 1901 census despite their being 5 other Sandle children (may or may not be related) being born in Barnet as well. I have search for William H on the census for 1897/1898 and not coming up with anything. Any help would be much appreciated Katie |
