I have his own handwritten record on the flyleaves of a French Grammar book that Sainthill Lindsey married Elizabeth Frances Hooper at St George in the East on July 10th 1791. He also records the births and deaths, (actual times of the events), baptisms (and innoculations) of his children, mostly St Mary le Strand, but at least one at St Clement Danes. One of my problems is I can verify only one of these records - the birth of Arthur Lindsey to Sainthill Lindsey and Elizabeth in 1812 and his baptism in 1813. The second is that both Sainthill and Elizabeth seem to have sprung from nowhere - there is a Sainthill Lindsey 'lookalike' connection in Devon, (Bradninch/Exeter) but I cannot actually find a connection for him amidst them, neither can I find a Hooper family in the right (St George in the East) parish area of London to attempt to tie Elizabeth to! Can anyone give me any ideas, please, as to how to trace either/both of them back, and how to verify these handwritten details? The book is a brilliant find- but frustrating too! Rosi.

Rosi, I'm afraid it may mean a trip to Westminster Archives which is where St. Clement Danes Parish and others are kept - although my own ancestors in this area are proving elusive as well. best wishes Hilary
