Exactly Sarah, I mean if they have been destroyed and all that, but if one site has the info and ancestry doesnt then that is a real worry.

I can understand bits of the actual census papers going missing - they've been around a long time - but it's bizarre that one site has the piece 1555 and another doesn't. I've mailed them anyway & asked them what they'll do now. Thanks everyone sarah :-)

I seem to remember there was about one-point-something million missing from the 1861!! Merry

5000 people missing?? Gawd, to think we have sat here looking for peeps and going slowly insane (or quickly in my case). Then you enter a name in that box on here and up he jumped.

Thanks Reg, I've never used 1837 because I've got ancestry so I didnt know they didn't have 1901 - thanks Merry, Should I mail them to ask where my vet is?? (well, to ask where piece 1555 is?) Hilary, thanks for finding him for me! (I trusted ancestry too much - that'll teach me!) Sarah :-)

On the TNA 1901 site where he's been found.....the entry shows as RG13 1555 Folio 21 Page 2 (click the rectangular icon next to his name to see this - doesn't cost anything!) and then go to Ancestry.....guess what?? They haven't got ANY of piece number 1555 LOL That's around 5,000 people missing! UPDATE (sorry Sarah, I was a bit slow....had to put a plaster on son in the middle of typing!) Merry

1837 doesn't have 1901..............only 1861 and 1891. 1901 is on the National Archives site............google 1901 census for the link Reg

I just entered him on the 1901 search on this page: Miles Baker 1854 Norfolk Holt Isle Of Ely Wisbech St Peter Veterinary Surgeon But he doesnt jump out of ancestry does he? Just makes you wonder how many other missing ones are there. Can anyone see him on ancestry 1901?

is invisible on 1901 though I've been told he died in 1915. I'm trying on his occupation now....... on 1871 he was training to be a vet in London..... on 1881 He was a vet & innkeeper in Aylsham......... on 1891 He was a vet in Wisbech, Cambs ............Then he disappears................ I've tried googling for trade directories 1901 to see if I can pin him down that way but I can't find what I need.... has anyone got any ideas??? Sarah :-) Thanks to Jess & company last night for finding him on 1891!
