I have a family on 1881 but I just can't find them on 1891 or 1901. I've tried all the names as searches... If anyone can get them (& share the secret of how they did it) I'd be eternally grateful... 1881 Harriet Baker abt 1851 Buxton, Norfolk, England Wife Aylsham Norfolk >>>Miles A. Baker abt 1852 Holt, Norfolk, England Head Aylsham Norfolk VETERINARY SURGEON & INNKEEPER Miles C. Baker abt 1879 Aylsham, Norfolk, England Son Aylsham Norfolk Susie J. Baker Aylsham, Norfolk, England Daughter Aylsham Norfolk They were living at the Lion Inn, Aylsham in 1881. They should have daughters Ethel b1884 and Mabel Harriet b1889 with them on 1891 who were both born Wisbech. (This is someone else's info that I'm trying to prove.) Sarah :-)

Sarah, the secret is to search with the least common Christian name, no surname, and the place and date of birth. I searched for the son Miles, and found the same as the others. The image clearly shows Baker for the surname.

I saw that on my travels around Ancestry too Paul (not sure which brother that susie was married to though - ) According to my source Miles Augustus didn't die until 1915 so he should be around somewhere... I didn't think of leaving out the surname (I mean, what could you do wrong when transcribing Baker???? - quite a bit obviously!!) Mabel & Adelaide, the neices in 1901 were the vet's brother's daughters... Thanks for all your help (& the marriage refs) Sarah :-)

sending for either of the marriage certs for his children might provide some clues. see who the witneses were ( maybe he was, maybe he wasn't etc)

Sarah Report 28 May 2006 07:56

Good idea Jess, with his name I thought I'd find him easily... I guess it'll have to be a cert then (he's a gggg's sibling so I can't really justify it though). Will ponder on this & keep at it until I really am m a d enough to need the cert!! sarah :-)
