Yep, Wayland along with Attleborough and surrounding areas - what/who are you looking for? |

Heather I have a load of Watton baptisms that match up with census entries for Watton - but for some reason I've squiggled next to a lot of them 'Wayland' and I couldn't figure out if I was correcting myself or telling myself where to look for birth references. The family alternate their names between Chaston and Chesnutt so it's a bit hit and miss with what I can and can't find on them Z xx |

Are they Huguenot? Chestnut comes out as Chastaigne/Châtaigne in French. Christine |

Christine I'm not sure to be honest. When I was at the Norfolk Records Office I spent most of my time trying to connect up two lines of the same name in different parts of Norfolk and I only started looking at the Chastons in my last hour or so. As I went through the baptisms I found them all recorded as Chesnutt in one parish (right parents, right dates, birthplaces match etc) but I didn't get time to follow it back any more to see what came of it because it was a last minute rush. I've only just got round to writing the notes up. I'm compiling a list of Norfolk mysteries to check up on when I'm next there. Z xx |

I believe that Norfolk was a Huguenot destination, so it will be worth keeping in mind. Christine |
