The historical directories site doesn't want to work, though it does have some for Staffordshire for the mid-1800s. But I googled and found: ABINGTON Leonard J (age 56) (owner?) Victoria Sugar Refinery (25 Lower Tean Rd, Checkley) Newcastle under Lyme 1881 1881 census perhaps the Victoria Refinery is the one you want? Can't find any mention of sugar refining on the Genuki pages for Newcastle u Lyme.

Hi all, does anyone have one for Stafforshire 1840/50/60s Iam looking for who ever owned a sugar refinery in Newcastle- under-lyme,It was on London rd, i have a feeling the name might have been Mason or Massey or some thing like that. Gratefull for any help. Gill
