Viewing a non members tree

A non paying member has said he will open his tree to me (a paid member). However, nothing has happened. Can a member view a non-members tree? Thanks Lyndsey

Hi Lyndsey I know it doesn't work the other way round. I was already paying for my own two accounts (birth and adoptive) so registered my husband's as non-paying. When a relative gave us access to their tree, we couldn't view it until we had paid a subscription. I would think that seeing you are a paying member, you ought to be able to view someone else's tree. Perhaps he hasn't yet ticked the box to give you permission? Mandy :)

Hi I have two accounts, one paid for and one not, so I have just tested it. On my paid for account, I can see the tree of my not paid for account but I can't view the paid for one through the non-paid. As you have a paid mambership, the non-member can't have ticked the box to allow access. Sam x

Thanks, that's what I thought. The chap was so definate about giving me access, so I thought I'd check my facts before contacting him again. Lyndsey

maybe he can't find you in his 'contacts page', as your surname is probably different to that on his 'in page'. I wish GR only used one surname, don't matter if it is maiden name or married name but using both is a pain. Josie Campbell [nee Garnham]
