Will 1837 give me another christian name?

If you know where he was born or the church the family used you could look for a baptism record that might show another name. Been looking for one for years that was on 1901 as Paul Proctor. Found him baptised under his mothers stepfathers surname as she was unmarried. Ellen X |

If the ref is from freebmd there is no scan,but you can easily see a scan of the index on ancestry (beta). To see what the second 'W' stands for you will need the cert. Glen |

Can you look at the GRO index - just to check the info's right. A lot of FreeBMD records do that now - as do the ones via the Ancestry copy of FreeBMD. Christine |

I have found (on FreeBMD) the birth of Thomas William W Overfield, Dec Qtr 1876, Stokesley, 9d, 615. I am hoping that the second W might stand for 'Wass' which is a family name given to quite a few of my Overfield boys. Would a look up on 1837 give me the full name I wondered? Di |
