Have you tried wildcards and so on to get round mistranscriptions? The name might be spelled (or transcribed) Delany - or even Delancy. (You could try DEL* to pick up everything starting DEL. You'd need Ireland, perhaps, rather than Queens County to get a bigger harvest. Limit DoB to 1830±2, say.) If you're really unlucky, the start of the surname might be mistranscribed, so you'd have to try without the surname - John's a problem for that, but Edward is less common. Christine

Can't see anything other than the above, sorry! It is possible that they came over after the 1851 census, but before the 1861 census. Particularly if they are living together migth suggest that they are new to the country and haven't got established and married.

Another 1851 look up please, this is a hard one. John Michael delaney brn abbey leix, queens county ireland abt 1830.. By the late 1850's he was in worcs, possibly with a brother edward and his father john. many thanks
