I have on the 1901 census somebody having the occupation of Apprentice Silk Merchant....this would have been in London. Would anyone know where I may find a record of this apprenticeship and what it involved? Many thanks Annie |

You could try ' googling ', also the City of London Guildhall site. |

A 'silk merchant' - this is a rare sort of occupation and I wonder if there was an established apprenticeship? May be he just went along with the boss? Is the boss related? What a lovely job to have - I expect you had to travel all over the world to the far east/china - must have been so exciting. |
