I'm asking because I'm desperate for some sort of indication I'm looking at the right family! My ancestor & his father were both parish clerks around the 1850-1870 period. I have been trying to track this family further back & I'm having problems sorting out 2 possible candidate families for his parents. In one of these families the wife was a daughter of the then parish clerk. Is this the sort of tenuous link that helps me decide its the right family, or am I clutching at straws? |

Is the Parish Clerks job (late 18th - mid 19th century) likely to be something that is usually kept in the same family? |
