Hi, I am looking for the death of my Great Aunt Carrie Appleyard, who was born in Barton upon Humber England in 1907. She went over to Australia in the mid 1920's I have located a possible marriage for her in NSW, in 1931, to a Russell J Daley but have only been able tosearch deaths up till 1975. Is it possible for anyone to find her death for me? I understand that she was living in Corriaml NSW in the 50's and had a son. Many thanks

Hi Lynn I'm afraid that the index for deaths that are less than 30 years old is not published - hence why you can't search past 1975. However, there is this possibility for Carrie's husband's death in 1944: Registration Number Last Name Given Name(s) Father's Given Name(s) Mother's Given Name(s) District 15413/1944 DALEY RUSSELL JAMES MICHAEL JAMES JEMIMA BULLI (Bulli is very close to Corrimal) The death cert would name his wife, when and where they married, and the names and ages of any children. Would probably also tell you where he was buried/cremated, which might lead you to Carrie too. Cheers, Richard

Lynne! Looks as though she may have remarried after her 1st hubsband's death: Registration Number Groom's Surname Groom's Given Name(s) Bride's Last Name at Time of Marriage Bride's Given Name(s) District 5841/1951 RIDLEY GEORGE WILLIAM DALEY CARRIE BONDI Maybe 2nd husband died too though: Registration Number Last Name Given Name(s) Father's Given Name(s) Mother's Given Name(s) District 22751/1952 RIDLEY GEORGE WILLIAM JOHN MARGARET BULLI Might be worth contacting this group: Illawarra Family History Group PO Box 1652 South Coast Mail Centre Wollongong NSW 2521 Australia http://www.rootsweb*com/~ausifhg/index.htm They have several transcriptions of cemetery indexes, etc that cover the Bulli/Corrimal area. They offer a research service ($11 per hour). Richard

Thanks for that Richard, I didn't know that more recent deaths weren't available in Australia, as you can probably tell, I'm in England! Carrie's nephew met her in the 50's and will hopefully recognize the name of her husband, when I telll him. That group certainly looks like it might be handy. Thanks again Lynn : - )

You can only find deaths up to 1975 in the BMD register, but you can often find more recent ones on the Ryerson Index, which is compiled from newspaper obituaries. http://www.rootsweb*com/~nswsdps/dpsindex.htm (replace asterisk with dot) However, there's no death shown for Carrie Ridley, which suggests that she may have married a third time (marriages in the BMD register only go up to 1955).

Thanks for that Mary, she could well have married again, she would only have been about 45, when George Ridley died. I wonder how many more husbands she got through! Then again, she could still be alive, she'd only be 99! Lynn : - )
