But my FIL was put in a Birmingham home in the 1900,s he was born in 1901 and seems like he was in a council home cos Barnado's & national children's homes have no record of him The one hundred year rule applies from when the last child was admitted. ie when the home was closed,so tho he was admitted in the 1900's if the home didnt close til 1950then the records wont open till 2050!! |

Thanks Lindy. I don't think it was a Barnardos home. Did they have social services back then? |

The 100 yr rule may apply, depends whether they are still alive or not. I recently applied for some info and was told if persons were dead they could send it - I had to send death cert tho. You could try the local records office, or Barnado's who keep records for all their children. Good luck with your search |

My grandad was put in a childrens home in the thirties along with brother and sister. Is there anyway I could find records for this?Do you know who might hold them? The building itself still exists and was previously the workhouse. Do you think the 100 year rule would apply? |
