Who is the Father of James Hollands???? Which one!

My problem is - are these the parents? I have a great, great, great called James Hollands b1812 Greenwich who married Emma (have not been able to find a marriage) They had the following children John Henry b1835, Sarah b1837, Matilda 1840, James b1845, Alfred b1848, Eliza b1851 and Frederick 1856. I was looking for James’ Parents (James b1812) and found two children born in 1812 in Greenwich. One was James William born to James & Mary 27 Nov 1812 and christened 10 Jan 1813 St Alfrege, Greenwich The other was James Wm christened 5 Jan 1812 to John and Elizabeth also at St Alfrege, Greenwich. I can see possibilities with John and Elizabeth as James’s first born was named John. But unless she didn’t survive there is no Elizabeth only an Eliza. I know it was usual to call the first born after the Grandfather and then the next one after the Father. Which would put Henry as the Father. Be interested in what you think (hope this all makes sense) Regards Chris |

Sounds reasonable - are they doing similar sort of jobs do you know. BTW, to get Emmas name just buy one of the kids birth certs (those after 1837) |

This looks like a good possibility: From Pallots marriages Record Jas Holland Davis Emma 1834 Rotherhithe Greenwich is a stones throw. |

Thanks Heather James was a Carpenter but I cant find John & Elizabeth in any census. I think you are right I need to get a birth cert to certify Emma surname. Thanks for the wedding - I did try looking but couldn't find one at all. Thanks again Chris |
