Thanks Anne, That fits in with my thinking. I want to learn the accepted ethos of this board. I just would not like anyone to work hard on my behalf and then think that I have ignored them. TGx

I also check the threads I've added to the day before. Don't worry - you can't be glued to the computer all the time. Personally I prefer not to get PMs that are not about my family, just so I keep the contacts list neater. I feel bad deleting people!! Anne

At first I was a bit put off at the curtness of some of the responses I read on Tips. But as a new member I have posted masses of questions and have asked for lots of help on this board. I have been amazed at the kind and helpful responses that I have received. It has helped me to progress my family tree in a way I would not have thought possible. Here is my concern:- sometimes I think that the responses have ended and so go off the computer. Only I log on later to find that someone has given me the answer to my problem or have asked a question that I have not been there to respond to. Then I feel really rude and respond with an apology and thanks. But I fear that they will not read my note of thanks because they feel I have ignored them. (is this making sense?). Would I do better to send my thanks by PM or do responders look back on threads they had added to? TGx
