all the childhood deaths I have list them as 'son of .........' or 'daughter of .......' - but most of them have been a lot younger. i would imagine that as coming of age was still considered to be 21 they would still be seen as the child of their father

Is an 18 year old girl likely to have her father's name on the death certificate in the 1870s? Anyone got any experience of this?
