hiya emma, firstly i would buy marriage cert, you can do this online from the GRO it will cost £7, once you have that then you'll have fathers of bride and groom, then we can set about finding them on census returns, and hopefully progress from there, not alot of point trying to guess, otherwise, you could end up chasing the wrong line hope this helps julie

im getting myself even more confused i have found her birth registered in wirral but on that 1861 census it says she was born in new ferry and on the other ones it says birkenhead, do you think im looking at 2 different people, i promise i wont ask anything else lol

hiya emma, dont worry about it too much i have several rellies who change their place of birth from census to census, and as for the spelling of a name, it just depends HOW the person writing it heard it, as often people couldnt write so they depended on learned people to write it for them, they couldnt check it, if they couldnt read. so isnt uncommon to find alot of different spellings hope this helps julie

She was probably born in one area and grew up in another. Rock Ferry and New Brighton are around Birkenhead but I can't see a place called New Ferry

only me again, i have just found a census record in 1861 for a jane shallcross in new ferry, on the other census she says she was born in birkenhead what does anyone advise for me to do As you can see im only a beginner sorry :-(

could it be the same one even though i have the spelling shallcross with 2 L's and yours has 1, oh i am so confused lol

thankyou so much, would that be them , holywell isnt north wales isnt far from liverpool, but he was from manchester and they ended up living in st helens im sure that doesnt matter though, im sure its the one thanks again

can anyone offer some advice im trying to find a wedding between Jane shallcross and john edwards either in liverpool or st helens, lancs(prescot registered) between 1871-1881. Ive searched everything i can and on everything i just cant find the record, is there anything else i can try to find this
