Wheres the best place to order a marriage certificate from? Its registered in Romford, Essex in 1925. I usually use the GRO website, but they seem to be taking ages. How / where do I go direct and does it still cost £7. Is it faster and do you still get the smae sort of copy? x Deb

The re office copy you get MIGHT be better IF you can get it!!!.......... The copy may have rellies sigs on it if you can get Romford to photocopy rather than transcribe the cert. However, the old reg books for Romford appear to be split between 4 offices (see below) so you would need to phone first to see who to contact. If you don't know the venue for the marriage then they may not help, or if you mention the words ''family history''!! ROMFORD REGISTRATION DISTRICT Registration County : Essex. Created : 1.7.1837. It should cost £7 wherever you get it from. The local register office might be able to provide a photocopy of the original if you ask. I've found local offices tend to write or type out the copy, whereas the GRO send a photocopy of the copy,. which would have the contemporary writing on it. nell
