Sorry to ask again folks.....as with earlier thread that jess and heather helped me with, i am struggling to find a JOHN KYTE on 1861 and 1871 census on 1851 it was spelt THYTE, john was born about 1817 in Beausall warks, but seems to have disappeared for 20 years , i think he died in 1880. on the 61 and 71 census his wife ANN is down as being wife to his broother ROBERT, in Beausall Warks, but they all lived on a family owned farm so this might not be as it seems. Just wondered if this name could have been mis transcribed yet again...any thoughts? |

Whatever the law said, there are instances of in-law brothers/sisters taking the place of a deceased spouse. In my tree I have an Elizabeth STRATFORD nee GARDNER for whom I couldn't trace a marriage. I did (with the aid of an Oxon FHS parish register CD) trace the marriage and death of her elder sister to the same man. The 1841 census confirmed the relationship. The burial register refers to her as Elizabeth Gardner ''properly called Stratford''. Christine |
