Genealogy Chat

Hi i wonder if anyone can tell me what i am doing wrong. when i click on view and then report and then genealogy i am only getting 3 generations when i know i have at least five or 6 ? does ftm 2005 only do 3 generations on this report. i am on the page with the furthest back ancestor - 1752 if i do a decendant chart i get all the info i need but i cant get it in a report ? any help would be great linda x

click on CONTENTs click on number of generations to show select whatever you want

thanks elaine i have just tried it and it is still doing the same on the contents i click genereations to show and i have raised it to the maximum and it says under - individual throught to 96th great grandchildren - does that mean it all goes up to great grandchildren and the increse in numbers is not for the generations but just great grandchildren ? i am still only getting 3 generations sorry to be a pain but this is new to me and it seems such a good idea love linda x x

I really cannot understand what you are doing wrong here. You are on the family page of your furthest DIRECT ancestor - make sure your cursor is placed on that person. Go to view, reports, genealogy. then go to contents and number of generations to include - you will normally find that 10 generations would cover you back to that period but you can put in 15 to be on the safe side. This number relates to generations, not to the number of people you are showing on the report. This should work

You must make sure you have your cursor on the person whose report you want to do. Keeping your cursor where it is at the moment, and without changing the number of generation to include, go to view, chart, descendant tree (standard) How many generations does it show ?

Well I really don´t know what is going on here - would change your heading and put EXPERT help still needed!!!

As Elaine says - are you sure you are open on the person most up to date when you order up the report? Say its on you? What happens if you then do the report - does it still only show 3 back from you? Id give them an email, they are usually very quick at answering problems or click on the help tab and enter a search for genealogy report - generations (or something like that) If I put view individual and bring my name up and then click on the icon for reports and ask for a genealogy report I get 13 generations on the report - just had a go.

I´m back with another thought but don´t think it will make a difference When you are doing the report - go to format and then genealogy report format - have you got the top one ticked - register descendant order
