Have just received a birth certificate for one of my rellies, it is unreadable. I think the birth took place 13th Feb.1843, and i can just about make out his name and his mothers name, no father. I really want to make out the mothers address, to help me find her on the 1841 census. The info I have is the birth took place in wolverhampton east, I believe willenhall and the address is middle row wolverhampton. Is there any way I can find the 'definate' address. Will check later, off to work-thanks

Hi Lynda, is it an original, or one from the GRO? If it is an original the GRO will have a copy which may be easier to read, if it is a copy from the GRO ask them to have another look at it for you, they are very helpful and have done this for me on certs which were hard to read. Either way getting in touch with the GRO would be your best bet I would think. Hope I have been of help Gloria :-))))

Lynda a name would be useful, we could have helped you search the 1841 census. Georgina.

Gendocs dot demon dot co dot uk have a brilliant bit that lists all Victorian London Street Names - been a real help on obscure places. Worth a look because it may have links to other parts of the country.

Son has scanned and 'cleaned up' which was very helpful in helping me read cert, but still the only address on it is middle row wolverhampton. The mothers name is ann phillips, son is thomas.

Middle Row is in Wolverhampton East, Parish of St Mary. In 1851 it is in District 1ii under HO107/2019, folios 788 to 794. Hope this helps.
