I have said this before, but this groups website is just what all FHS websites should be. I def going to join it. This is where I found that one name research guy who has given me so much back to 17th century on my Verralls. I have now gone back to the site and blow me someone else is there with info on the Mockfords in my line. If you have Sussex rellies, do have a look - well worth joining for £11 a year, just getting me credit card as we speak. www.sfhg.org.uk

I have certainly found their website worth a visit. As a matter of conscience, I feel I ought to join for at least one year, anyway! Christine

Yes Chris, I felt the same as they give you so much info free - and gawd knows what you can get as a member.

Hi, I joined yesterday after reading your message!! I wasnt as lucky as you but thought it worth joining anyway - even paying the extra for overseas membership. I am investigating Reeds, Buddens and Adams (so far). Caroline

Well, Im not sure what else we will get once we have full membership access but as I said they have contacts on there (they split the email addies and you have to copy and paste to join them together to avoid spam - youll see what I mean if you try to email a member) and the very first one I have mailed has given me stuff back to 1688, all sourced and has just mailed me again to thank me for the little bit I gave him and the scans I sent him of certs and told me not to buy a will as he has it and will send me a transcript. The other great site for Sussex (what makes sussex so good at this?) and in fact the site I was looking for when I stumbled on this one is: http://www.sussexrecordsociety.org/home.asp On that site you can actually see settlement certificates by name on line - I got about 2 dozen details off there.

Well you dont need to join the records website to look up if any of your ancestors had settlement or removal orders - its all there free of charge. There are also bastardy orders with the details. Incredible.
