Hi Pam, I have had a look on my Vital Records Index for you (1788-1905 NSW, TAS, Vic, & WA) and see no Hardsman name at all there are a few Herdsmans but not a Joseph, a David or and Ellen. I will push up Tony Hulls tips for researching in Aus for you here on the Tips Board maybe you will find a new way to search thru Tonys suggestions. cheers Laurie

Hi Pamela, Welcome. I'm fairly new myself. If you are in Aus.you will probably get more help, particularly, with UK research if you put your questions on at a different time. Remember Australia is 9-10 hour ahead of London. I've just checked NSW again for you and can't find anything. The closest is a marriage for a Joseph J Hardman(noS) in 1890. Have you been to LDS Family history? I find it hard to get out but can tell you places that will help. I'm in Brisbane, Qld. Let me know if you want some ideas. The only problem is I'm going to be away from tomorrow Wed. till Monday. Mind you, having said that, I'm stuck with my lot at the moment as well. Email me direct if you like.

Looking for information on Joseph Hardsman/Herdsman. He was supposed to have been born in Tenterfield, NSW, Australia in about 1867. No birth record in NSW that I can find. Does anyone know of his birth in another state. His father was David Hardsman and his mother Ellen Scott. David was a watchmaker and may have come from Wales. Don't know when he came to Australia. Have not been able to find burial records for these two people. Joseph was married to Alice Cooper in 1900 in St Lawrence, Qld. Any information will be greatfully received Pam
