thanks for all replies, I hate this waiting thing, trouble is to stop my hubby getting suspicious I only order one at a time now instead of a job lot.As even he will realise they cannot be free, one day. They did have a message on the site about delays. You would think with all the money they are making out of us they would take on extra staff. |

Recently the certificate from one Register Office was within two days, and another within 4. One was scanned, one typed. |

Yes the ones I ordered last week gave a despatch date of over 3 weeks - may be things will calm down soon. How long did we use to wait in the normal old days - was it about 5 days? I cant remember now. |

I usually use the GRO as I like the photocopied type, but the last wait of 3 and a half weeks drove me mad, so last Monday when I wanted four certificates, I phoned the relevant registry office (Hastings) and first asked them if they issue photocopies or typed certificates. They said photocopies, so I ordered them and they arrived next morning. Think I might do this in future. Kath. x |

Unfortunately it is the most busiest time of the year for ordering certs. Not only for the UK citizens, but for all the foreign visitors over here on holiday and researching their trees - especially our American cousins. Lin |

Valerie Remember the other long wait times a couple of years ago thanks to Who Do You Think You Are? I waited six weeks for one cert that time :( They brought in extra staff (temps?) to bring down waiting times but I don't think they have this time.....Probably realised it was a short term problem and they used a 'sledgehammer to crack a nut' and they won't spend the money again. Chris<<< Impatiently waiting 3 death certs :( |

I am not good at waiting and 3 weeks seems terrible. Do hope it speeds up again |
