can anyone shed some light please, i have found a relative on the 1881 census born in birkenhead(jane edwards) living in st helens, 1891 it says born in bebington still living in st helens lancs then 1901 born in birkenhead, living in st helens. Im confused and i cant find no record of her birth, i know her maiden name was shallcross and she married a john edwards, but i cant find her before 1881 can anyone push me in the right direction please |

Do you have the marriage cert or any of the children's birth certs? It may be that she was married previously, so therefor her maiden name will be different to those in the marriage indexes. |

Sub-districts : Bebington; Birkenhead; Clatterbridge; Eastham; East Wirral; Neston; Wallasey; West Wirral; Woodchurch. GRO volumes : XIX (1837-51); 8a (1852-1946); 10A (1946-74). Bebington cum Bromborough CHS 1922 1974 before 1922 see Higher Bebington; Lower Bebington; Bromborough Birkenhead CHS 1837 1861 transferred to Birkenhead district on 1.7.1861 |

hi i think she was born about 1850/1851 i have her sons birth certificate he was born in 1881, i just cant find her or her husband(whom was born in manchester 1850) before 1881 on any census |

Ancestry won't let me into most of the censuses, so I can't cross ref (you didn't say when she was born!), but is this her?? 1871: Jane Shallcross abt 1850 Bebington, Cheshire, England Servant Toxteth Park Lancashire Merry |

right i have managed to find a birth on cheshirebmd but i still cant find a marriage in cheshire or lancashire any tips on what i can try and do to find it |

Have you checked the FULL records on Ancestry? As opposed to the freebmd extracts............... Reg |
