thanks Joy, no luck yet but I will keep trying. a lot of the stories about this branch have turned out to be, shall we say, not as true as I expected! I can see there is an index of MC's at TNA, so am asking someone to check that for me too. Maz. XX |

Well, drat and double drat!!! I thought I'd be able to find that for you...... There's this website: http://www.gazettes-online(.)co.uk/index.asp?webType=0 (remove brackets) You can search for specific medal types at specific dates. I went to the WW1 pages, typed in his surname only and selected MC. There was only one match which took ages to download and then the chaps name was Augustine Lodge, after all!!! Grrrrr! Suggest you try a few searches on the site and see if you can find it! Merry |

Ask Merry Monty Montgomery to help you. She is the boards expert on this subject. Sylvia. |

one of my great grandfather's brothers, Alfred John Lodge (b 1876 Romford, Essex), was apparently awarded the MC in 1917 at Buckingham Palace. I know he was a career soldier who fought before and during WW1, but don't know his regiment or anything else. I would love to find out what he did to earn this honour. Can anyone help me please? Thanks, Maz. XX |
