I am planning to write some articles about the stories I have discovered in my family history. What software should I use to write them, and what format would I send them in? I've recently got a free PagePlus 8 program from this month's issue of Your Family Tree magazine. I had to ring up the company to register and not surprisingly they tried to sell me the most up to date version, which saves the articles in PDF, which apparently everyone uses now. How do you go about getting articles published? I will be writing about my Sussex family. I'm thinking of perhaps trying Sussex Life and the Sussex Express newspaper. Also aswell how much money should I expect to receive for an article? I look forward to reading your comments. Rachel |

I have nudged a previous thread on this topic. I used to write the occasional piece for a nursing journal. I did not use any special software, just word perfect. You do need a spell checker and word counter. Pay was about £20 per thousand words - less than I would get for spending the time nursing. Be prepared for a long delay between submitting the article and getting paid. Good luck. |

Thank you for nudging that thread Annie. I tried to find it earlier without success. I've now bookmarked it so that I don't lose it again! Rachel |
