Laura I am 'bumping' up two recent threads on which Record Offices do and don't do certificates for family history. Might be worth ringing the relevant office first to see if they will issue certs or will refer you to the GRO. Chris

Laura Order your certifiate through the relevent register office. The address's are on GENUKI. It will save you money (its £7-00) and if you enclose a SAE you will get it back the same week, The GRO takes an age,

Laura order your certificates through the GRO, if you have the reference numbers the certificates will cost £7 without them I think they are £11 or £11.50. This is the web address... http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ Georgina.

Hi I am fairly new to this and so far have found out loads already. I have been trying to confirm a marriage between my great great grandfather and his wife and I think I have found the volume number and page reference on BMD. What do I do next? Would I need to obtain a marriage certificate? If so, can anyone recommend a site? Laura
