HAROLD WILLIAM KNIGHT born 15th jan 1901 i think his parents were samuel and elizabeth knight was in royal horse artillery number K1036777, i have his medal card stating he recieved the clasp iraq and general service medal he had brothers ronald leslie george frank and sisters nora dorothy (doll) and elsie i beleive his parents were samuel and elizabeth (possibly nee rose) he married ivy violet beatrice petitt born 5th July 1905 in Boreham essex. ivy's parents were elizabeth grace pettit (nee herd) frank charles pettit(dob 26th dec 1874 in black notley essex)elizabeth and frank married dec 1898 in maldon essex harold and ivy had 12 children, dorthea, hazel,leslie,pamela,harold,patricia,michael,pearl,dawn,valerie,pauline and peter harold died 29th june 1992 in bexhill on sea sussex aged 91 a retired HGV driver. i am at my wits end with searching for harold,even to the point of seeing a medium!who thinks he may have descended from morrocan gypsies! he may during the war have been connected to a lady in london when he was on leave! please, if anyone can help i would be very grateful as i am trying to find the info for my mother as he left the family when she was young and desparatly wants to know more about him.

Let me just check!....... You need the birth ref for Harold William Knight DOB 15-01-1901 and the marriage ref for him to Ivy Violet Beatrice Petitt? Do you know when and where the first child was born? this might narrow down when to search. The indexes for this period are not yet transcribed, but they are searchable, quarter by quarter, online or at large libraries and record offices. I'll have a little look for his birth. Jenny

yes that is what i'm looking for, but anything else would be a help too! the first child-dorothea lilyan was born 13th april 1926 she died 9th june 1954 aged 28, she married tommy wigg. my mother thinks harolds father may have been samuel knight who may have lived at 3 grosvenor close or place,lottin or loftin way, chelmsford, essex at some point and his mother may have been elizabeth nee rose with an address of 59 hall avenue, purfleet, essex

my mother remembers thenames of harolds siblings-i can only assume he was born somewhere in essex as that is where his wife ivy and all his children where born. i know his 2nd eldest child was born in billaricay essex
