Have you got his marriage cert? that will give you his fathers details and confirm his age. If his son was born 1915 and he was born 1897 he was a very young dad? Suzanne

Have you got his sons birth cert to get his mothers name? Otherwise its like looking for a needle in a haystack and you are presuming quite a lot. Of course it is your tree.. lol. Suzanne

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 21 May 2006 23:03

If not then have you at least found his sons birth entry in the indexes? That would give you his mothres maiden name. Suzanne

Hi Hayz: Births of Edward Shaws in London/Middlesex between 1913-1917: No Surname Forename1 Forename2 Forename3 Mothers maiden name District Page No Event Quarter Year View Image 1 Shaw Edward H Burden Camberwell.1d 1667 Birth 3 1914 2 Shaw Edward G Blunt Daventry.3b 169 Birth 3 1915 3 Shaw Edward B Hook Hastings.2b 55 Birth 2 1916 4 Shaw Edward J Clark Kensington.1a 222 Birth 2 1916 5 Shaw Edward G Chandler Kensington.1a 248 Birth 3 1913 6 Shaw Edward C Bullen Lewisham.1d 1858 Birth 1 1917 7 Shaw Edward M Goslett Lewisham.1d 2192 Birth 3 1914 >>>8 Shaw Edward H Shaw Marylebone.1a 948 Birth 1 1915 9 Shaw Edward A Moden Newmarket.3b 598 Birth 4 1917 10 Shaw Edward E Shaw Portsmouth.2b 689 Birth 3 1915 11 Shaw Edward Noone St George Hanover Square.1a 760 Birth 1 1915 12 Shaw Edward Spinks Stepney.1c 631 Birth 1 1914 13 Shaw Edward J Scanlon Tunbridge.2a 1148 Birth 4 1917 14 Shaw Edward Williams Wandsworth.1d 980 Birth 3 1917 15 Shaw Edward A Good Wandsworth.1d 1353 Birth 1 1913 16 Shaw Edward J Taylor Woolwich.1d 2156 Birth 4 1913 I take it the one you found was the Marylebone one above? Marylebone is nowhere near Hounslow? With the mother being down as Shaw its likely that this is an illigitimate birth (although it could be a Shaw marrying a Shw or the parents got married after the birth?) Can I assume that you have been told by family that the birth was in Hounslow? If this is the case then they may be wrong? Perhaps he was ayoung child in Hounslow but born elsewhere? I was born South of the river Thames and was only six months when my family moved? Also I take it that the Name 'William Thomas Henry Shaw' is from the marriage cert of Edward? If this is the case and the William born Surrey is his father then its just possible the one in Camberwell at the top is your man as its closer to the area his possible father was living? I think in this case you may have to get the death cert of William as you know for sure he died and was buried in Preston????? Or do you? His death cert might produce the wifes name? Suzanne Update: Ill see if I can find a marriage for Burden/Shaw and find out if the first name of Shaw is William and let you know.

Looks like we're getting somewhere: Birth of Edward H Shaw: Shaw Edward H (Mothers name - Burden) Camberwell.1d 1667 Birth 3 1914 Parents marriage of above: No Surname Forename1 Forename2 Forename3 Spouse District Page No Event Quarter Year Shaw William T H (Burden) Southwark.1d 199 Marriage 4 1913 Burden Edith (Shaw) Southwark 1d 199 Marriage 4 1913 We have your William Thomas Henry Shaw!!!! I think in this case that the birth I found earlier for William will be his, if you get the marriage cert it will give both Ediths and Williams fathers name and occupation so you can hopefully find both of them on the 1901 census. Hi Hayz, Im pleased I was of help. Ages can vary over the years anyway so always look a few years either way. For Births and marriages from about 1911-1920 I find the best site is familyrelatives althought I know others who dont get on with it at all but Its good for getting quick results and matching up couples for marriage and giving mothres maiden name for birth after Sept 1/4 1911 to 1920. Best of luck with all you do..... Suzanne XX
