Hi I know my ggrand father was Frederick Wyatt born 1827 and his fathers name (taken from Freds marriage certifcate) was Richard. They have all come from London, Bethnal Green and Spitalfields. I have found details on the IGI records for Frederick showing a Richard and Ann being his parents and found a marriage record for them together with other children. I now have discovered that a Richard and Lucy are Richards parents and found their family. I have been trying to find a marriage record for Richard & Lucy for ages and as all of their children I have found birth records for show they were born in London when I have searched I used London as the county. But today don't no why I searched for them in all counties and yes you guessed I found a Richard and Lucy but they married in Todenham Gloucester in 1820. But how do I know that this is the right couple as up until now they have all come from London? All you experienced researchers what do you think? It gets so hard when you get this far back.

Is Frederick with his parents in the 1851?Possible place of birth quoted for parents may help. Have you got his marriage cert and if so his fathers occupation?That might tie in with the census returns. Maybe a birth cert if there is a later born sibling will help with the fathers occupation. You have to try and find something common to Richard and Lucy through a period of time if you can. Glen

The easier part is disproving Richard and Lucy from Toddenham. Thanks have not tried the census but know they were silk weavers. Richard and Lucys children were all born in London and to early for them to have Certs. But will check the census. thanks

Thanks that means the marriage details I found are not the right Richard & Lucy's. I have a list of kids all born to a Richard & Lucy in London. I just confused myself in frustration of not being able to find their marraige details in London!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Merry the census I have which shows Frederick wyatt born 1828 and Hannah his wife is 1861 and they are in the parish of Derbyshire. As they were silk weavers I assume they moved there for work. They did return to London as they are shown on the 1871 census.

Merry here goes and they were all born in Spitalfields Richard & lucy's Children I found Ann Wyatt Born 1803 Henry Born 1814 Joseph 1816 Martha 1818 Mary Margaret 1811 Richard James 1807 (his my gggGrandad he married Ann Clark) Sarah 1805

What made you change your mind about his mum being Lucy rather than Ann?? Sorry but it is Frederick & Ann their parents are Frederick and Hannah, theirs are Richard & Ann, and theirs are Richard and Lucy. Wife of Frederick Ann remarried a William Overy as Frederick died. So sorry if I confused you but I am confused myself!!!!! Its Richard and Ann's parents, Richard and Lucy I am trying to find a marriage for.

I don't see how the 1820 Richard and Lucy would be Richard's parents if Richard junior's son was born in 1827! They must be a different Richard and Lucy, surely? Of course, not all parish records are available on the internet so it could well be that your Richard and Lucy got married in one of those other parishes (it feels weird every time I type 'Richard and Lucy' because there is a teatime radio programme on here with that name!) Richard Jnr was born in 1807 he was the father of Frederick who was born in 1827. I found it hard to explain in first thread and have confused everyone!!!!!!! Sorry but off to bed now need to relax my mind I have so many Fred's and Richards going around in my mind. Why did our ancester insist on calling there kids the same name as their fathers!!!!!!!
