I was desperate to find something on my Acton family and then I found a marriage of one of the daughter in 1837 - I thought woo hoo, got yer. Yep, rotten MAy 1837, sods law, eh. |

If the 1840 death is the Poplar one in Q2, it looks like Vol 2 Page 211 to me! Merry |

Thank you all for replies. Have now got deaths for both of them (won't know if right ones til order certificates) BUT......aaarrrggghh can't read the page nos. Can on the John who died in 1851 but cant on John who died in 1840. Even if I get these I don't know if it will prove they were related to Thomas who I have found died in 1887. What do you think. So frustrating but so interesting at the same time. Thanks again. |

That Docklands PR site is this: http://www.parishregister.*com (remove *). I've just posted that on another thread! Christine |

The cut off point for parish records to civilregistration (birth marriage death certs) is Sep 1837. Before Sep 1837 you need Parish records which you may find online (depends on the area) or you may have to try the local (to the event ) records/archive office. Glen |

As Chris says, you wont get a certificate, may be a photocopy of the entry in the register by emailing the relevant records office and paying for them to look it up and send it to you. For the Poplar guy you may be able to find that entry on line (I cant remember the dates covered) on Dockland Ancestors - they have some churches info which isnt anywhere else online. I take it you have already searched familysearch.org for entries? |

Certificates, as such, didn't start until Registration in 1837. You might be able to get a copy of parish register entries for Baptism, Marriage and burial - the nearest equivalent to BMD. Some do have a lot of detail, but most are more sparse than formal certs. Christine |

I would like to try and obtain a birth certificate for John Hone born 1790 in Pyrford Surrey and Thomas Hone born around 1818 in Poplar. Any ideas where I can look for these please? Thanks Pam. |
