Thanks for trying Toni. I'm normally pretty good with my searching. Now that someone has looked and can't find him either I know it's not just a case of me not looking properly!

Hi, I've been searching and can't find him. There must be a typo somewhere. I've looked for Freeman born Hertfordshire Meeson with and without year born 1865 +- 5. I've also searched for Fred* in Hertfordshire with and without Meeson. I tried with no year but there were way too many results. I'm off to bed now as its late. Good luck and try thinking of posible mistranscriptions. Toni

Thanks Gloria Benjamin Freeman was my Gt Grandfather and I've had a busy time tracking him and his 6 brothers - they had 40 children between them! It's just Frederick in 1881 I couldn't find. Lyndsey

No I'm afraid I don't. By the time of the 1901 census records he had remarried (second wife's name being Emma) and his oldest child was aged 10. I take it he was still single in 1881? Was there any form of readable address or an occupation?

Can someone help me find Frederick Freeman on the 1881 census? In 1871 he was aged 6 and living with his parents James and Jane and his 7 siblings in Black Hall, Meesden, Hertfordshire. By 1891 he is still living in Meesdon, but lives alone at the 'Cottage', is a widower and works as an Agricultural Labourer. Mant thanks Lyndsey
