I have a relative with what looks like Tipping for a first name-I have looked at 2 census images and the writing is clear-at first i thought it had to be Tiffany.......I just cant see it........we are talking born c1827 here.......son to Francis and Elizabeth Tudsbury in West retford Nottinghamshire in the 1841 census and 1851 census..........siblings Richard,Lucy and Betsey.......anyone have any other suggestions or knowledge of such a name.?? |

just noticed a marriage of a william tipping tudsbury in 1852......so his real first name must have been william but it wasnt recorded........marriage is in the village down the road....still bizarre name though.......his mother I reckon was called Elizabeth Lound,so it isnt a maiden name....and why only with the one child? |

Hi Alter Ego, Wondered if you have Elizabeths mothers maiden name yet? I have similar in my family but the surname skipped a generation then became a middle name.... took a while to work out where the devil it fit.... Lisa |

This bloke was born in a little nottingham village ,first son of a miller,a lot of relatives living in the area, givena strange name, then gets married down the road in his mothers village and shoots off to america !!....this is probably in the 1860's as his inclusion in the censi ceases after 1851. |
