This is long and envolved, but please bare with me. Here is Henry Phillips from 1841 to 1871. Problem is, how do I decide which is his true birth date. What makes it more difficult is that Henry Phillips was quite a common name in willenhall staffs. The only extra bit of info I have on him, is that he had a sister, Ann, the mother of thomas. Any advice much appreciated, before I go totally bald!!!! 1841 Henry Philips abt 1816 Staffordshire, England Wolverhampton Staffordshire Mary Philips abt 1816 Staffordshire, England Wolverhampton Staffordshire 1851 Henry Phillips abt 1811 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Head Mary Phillips abt 1814 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Wife Thomas Phillips abt 1843 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Nephew 1861 Ann Philips abt 1843 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Wife Willenhall Henry Philips abt 1821 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Uncle Thomas Philips abt 1841 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Head Willenhall Staffordshire 1871 Samuel Banks abt 1843 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Boarder Ann Phillips abt 1842 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Wife Henry Phillips abt 1819 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Uncle Martha Phillips abt 1871 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Daughter Thomas Phillips abt 1843 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Head Thomas Phillips abt 1862 Willenhall, Staffordshire, England Son

Hi Lynda I've been looking for Henry's marriage to Mary but no luck there. If married after 1837 it would give you his father's name.. Heather

In the 1871 census it appears that Thomas 1843 is the nephew of Henry, so there must be an Ann born around 1819, is there an online parish clerks for stafford, failing that you will have to go to the record office for staffs or the national archives at kew?any which way I think parish records are the answer. The 1841 would round his age down to the nearest five so he could appear up to five years younger than he was. 1851 is most likely to be nearest his real age, as folks got older they lost track of how old they were and ages on Census tend to vary more. This one would seem the most likely, Thomas obviously being a family name HENRY PHILLIPS Birth: 23 MAR 1810 Christening: 07 JAN 1811 Willenhall, Stafford, England Parents: Father: THOS. PHILLIPS Mother: MARY Batch No.: C056092 There is a Hannah 1808 and a Nancy 1802 baptised to same parents. Both names are forms of the name Ann. This could be Thomas and Mary in 1841 Thomas Philips abt 1771 Staffordshire, England Wolverhampton Staffordshire Mary Philips abt 1771 Staffordshire, England Wolverhampton Staffordshire HO107/985/6 Registration district: Walsall Sub-registration district: Willenhall ED, institution, or vessel: 5 Folio: 31 Page: 8
