An ancestor of mine spent census night 1861 in custody in Cuckfield Police Station Sussex. I would really like to know what crime he had commited. Does anyone know whether police custody records for this period still exist, and if they are, where would I find them? Thank you for your help. Rachel |

Hi Rachel If you go to http:// www.a2a.org.uk/ and enter Cuckfield in the search about three pages in to the results there' s: East Sussex Record Office: Quarter Sessions Records [COURT IN SESSION] 1593-1971 The results tell you all the records the office holds. Hope this helps. Heather |
