If you're not a full member can you contact other members at all. Either by pm or through these boards???

No you cannot, however you can reply if a full member initiates contact. Liz

I've had pms from various people who have no connection to me at all asking for help on stuff. Just wondering why are they messaging me & not posting on here with you lovely lot who are much more experienced (and about a million times quicker!!) Sarah :-)

Liz, So that means that if they can pm me then they could post on the boards. Sarah :-)

No, a non-fee-paying member cannot initiate contact or post on the boards. Neither can they view trees, even when given permission to do so. The only thing they can do is respond to a pm sent by a full member, and read the boards. Liz

Sorry, it appears I misunderstood your last post. Yes, if they can pm you, then they can post on the boards. Have you asked them why they are asking you? Liz

Sarah, sometimes they see your name on a thread and either mistakenly think you are offering help to everybody, or don't know how to add a reply to a thread and click on your name instead. The other day I got one of the first kind and I found the thread they had got my name from and deleted all my replies from it! I think if it is that kind of message then the name of the thread where they got your name from will be in the subject of the message. Kate.

Liz No, I've just advised them to post on here instead & if they can't / don't want to then to mail me the details & I'll have a go. Sarah :-) I haven't noticed postings from them nor have they got back to me with details... ho hum

I expect it's where they've seen your name on here and clicked it, either because they thought they were posting on a thread, or because they just liked the sound of your name! Merry

Kate, Their message titles are always pertinant to their request & nothing to do with any threads I've been involved in. Strange... Sarah :-)
