Wouldn't it be great if we could search the death index as we search the census on Ancestry using a christian name and approximate age? My mother says her sister died in 1948 and as she's usually pretty reliable and I can't find the death I started thinking 'wouldn't it be great if........?' What would you wish for? Heather

I would wish that everytime i get a match to a name search,the reply to my message didn't say 'most of this has come from the tree owned by xxx xxxx,because that tree is so full of wrong marriages and dates of birth,and some serious leaps of faith based on a slim chance census match,mothers of ten years of age when they had the firstborn etc. Some of it is absolutely spot on,based on my certificates it looks well researched,then you can see the guesswork in the rest of it. And i'm fed up with half sibs who can't even get back TO grandparents,never mind struggling with g g/p. Rant over Glen

Thanks, Heather. You've just reminded me that I need to do another search for Lillian Grace Eleanor. Surname unknown. In freebmd you can already do that sort of search, and hopefully when the GRO has its new index up and running you'll be able to do so too.

wouldnt it be great if we could view certs on line. or have them downloaded i know its not poss but wouldnt that would be great love linda x
