Hi. if anyone is able to check could you please look for a Francis Robert C E Williams. he was born in 1894 in Burton on Trent and apparently emigrated to Oz later in his life. I dont know any more info than that at the moment, but if you could look (or if theres somewhere i could do it myself that would be great). Many thanks |

It's quite hard to trace the emigration unless you know the rough year of emigration, and preferably the name of the ship. There are lots of sites with passenger lists; here's one you could try: http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/ You have to search for Australian BMDs State by State. I've had a quick look in New South Wales, and I can't find a death for a Francis Williams with parents Frederick and Mary. |

Hi Mary yes thats them. i actually believe his parents were John Richard Williams and my gg grandmother Harriett Lakin. Harriet shortly after her marriage in 1893 changed her name to Florence and moved to London. My aunt said recently it was 'known' that she had a son and he later emigrated to Oz, but thats just fable at the moment. I have Francis birth cert coming in 3 weeks so hopefully that will tell me either way. many thanks for looking though, thats great |

I can't see anything obvious in NSW, even with that new information. You can have a look for yourself here: http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=births I'm not familiar with the other States, but if you put Australia in the search box at the top of the page you'll find lots of helpful information. |

Try the National Library site, it has lists for a number of states http://www.nla.gov.au/oz/genelist.html#Immigration plus lots of other oz information. |
