I've just been on here looking for some marriages. No results on 4 I tried so I thought I'd see how they did on one that I found on Hugh Wallis before. No result either. Is there a trick to using the site?? Sarah :-)

Only use it for 1866-1920 and only after you check freebmd. I got a lot of zero returns when I first did it - found out you must ONLY put ONE first name in otherwise it gives you a nil return.

Thanks Heather, but I didn't explain myself properly I'm trying for pre-1837 & parish registers... Only putting one name will work better? Sarah :-)

There is no reason to think that you will find a marriage on Family Relatives because you have found it on Hugh Wallis's site. Hugh Wallis is an alternative way of searching the IGI, which is made up on entries transcribed from parish registers, mostly before 1837 but some after, and also entries that people researching their family history have added, which can be completely wrong. Family Relatives only has the GRO indexes, which only start in 1837, but as Heather said, the main reason for using Family Relatives is the name index they have from 1866 to 1920. Kate.

Blimey, I stand corrected!! They DO have some parish registers now (Phillimore's), I can't very easily copy and paste it, but basically I would think it is just a few out of the many parishes in England and Wales, there is no way it could be complete or even anything like as complete as the IGI, it is just ones that have been transcribed and published before, so you will just be lucky if you find what you want on there. I'm going to see what there is, anyway! Kate.

The PR's and Army stuff on FR has only been there literally a few days, so we are all newbies for that part of their database! Merry
