Well, you should be able to find him on census from 1901 back now that you have his name and occupation? Or do you mean more about his army service? |

It may be worth getting the daughters birth certificate which will hopefully (depending on when he became a pensioner) tell you his rank and regiment if he were still in service when she was born? It will also give her mums maiden name. |

Good thinking Heather! I don't know where she was born, thats the problem, I thought if I could find out more about her Dad, I might get a clue as to where she was born. Would the family travel about with him in the late 1800's - early 1900's. She was 19 on the marriage cert. Help! Meryl |

well on my dads elder sisters birth cert in 1904 it stated her dad was a private engineers reg. I found his Army record & HIS bros too at Kew/ Also i found my grt grt grandads Army record too he was in the Army from 1824 -1847 so its worth checking at Kew. I needed to go to Kew to get dads fathers record ,but, the earlier one of 1824 I found listed and i ordered from the National Archives website Shirley |

Heather | Report | 19 May 2006 11:03 |
Well,if we have her name combined with her dads, we should hopefully be able to get them together in 1901 when she was 9. And you do find often them living either in barracks on near the barracks. |
