Hello, Could anyone tell me does a female death certificate have their maiden name on it? Have just realised I only have male death certificates. Thanks. Pam.

Details contained on a death certificate include: * name, date and place of death * date and place of birth (please note: before 1969 a certificate only showed the age of the deceased) * occupation and usual address * cause of death * the person who gave the information for the death registration

There was a thread about this recently.I'll see if I can nudge it for you. Nowadays the maiden name is on certificates, I know because I registered Mum this February. Other people think they do not have maiden names on there. Gwyn

I think this is what you are looking for. 1953 - date and place of birth and the maiden surname of married women is given on death certificates (Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1953)

Thank you all. I did order my ggmother's death certificate and forgot that I had it. She died in 1941 so no maiden name on there but have noticed that later certificates have space for maiden name. Fingers crossed mine will have a maiden name on when arrives as she died in 1977. Thanks again. Pam.
