Cindy - I would have thought it unlikely although I suppose they may have done. did they register him in their name or something?

I have a smiliar thing my grandad was sort of adoped in 1912 not long after being born but by his aunty and uncle, so I am to belive and a friend of the family has tried to look in to it and she belives that they registered the birth again in Kings Norton Birmingham but I don't know any more than that and don't know how to find out if this is true or not.

There were no legal arrangements before 1927,it was likely to be a private arrangement or a child being 'taken in' Glen

Hi My mother in law was adopted in 1911 by the man I believe was her biological father and his wife. Can anybody tell me if adoption was registered then or was it just a case of : if you want her...take her. many thanks Tricia
