Got a nice Removal Order for my ancestor today

In my forebears removal order it stated to remove or convey the said Richard Titshall. As with a lot of old documents the s looked like an f so faid instead of said. Richard had originated from the other side of Suffolk and moved to east Suffolk in the 1750s and I have quite a bit of evidence of him moving around from poarish to parish. He started serving an apprenticeship in 1741 when he was 12 |

My gt x 3 grandfather Robert and his wife and 3 daughters were 'removed and conveyed' from Stoke Poges to Aston Rowant, where Robert was born. The parish of AR protested, and the magistrates decided that the family could stay at Stoke P. I didn't see the removal order, but I did see the verdict of the courts as well as the statement Robert made about his financial affairs. nell |

Hi I visited Suffolk Records Office and actually held in my hand the original removal order cert for my 6xgreat grandfather and his 2nd wife way back in 1802 when he was 73 and she was about 64. I was amazed to be one of the very few people who has actually held it, especially the paper being 204 years old. I got a photocopy and they were removed back to their previous parish of settlement because they were becoming chargeable to the parish they were being removed from after hoping to gain settlement there. But on the back it says that the removal order was delayed because my ancestors wife was too sick to move home and travel. Quite an interesting story Ben |
