Hi I am trying to find a william thomson strain born in glasgow in 1920..I have searched numerous sites but cant find any record of his birth or his parents..I can find his death but that is all..Can anyone give me a helping hand it would greatly recieved.Mark

For Scottish you usaully find Scotlandspeople is the best,but the birth records only go to 1905,marriages and deaths go later. I don't know of any online sources post 1905 for births,but i stand to be corrected. Glen

If you dont want to wait til the end of the month to take up Liz's kind offer then you can apply directely to the GROS (General Register Office of Scotland). They will do a search for a certain ammount of money then send you a cert. Since you know his full name and year then i think they'd be able to find it fairly easy. As its already been pointed out, Scotlandspeople is the best site to use when seeking Scottish relatives but cant really help anyone looking for anything 'recent'. Hope this helps Mhairi
